PUCHONG, 10 April 2025 – Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park today unveiled a series of strategic partnerships that further cement Malaysia’s position as a rising leader in global semiconductor innovation. In a landmark move, collaborations with Brazil, ChipInventor, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) were announced during the “Delivering the Next Generation of Chip Builders” event held at Sheraton Four Points, Puchong.
The partnerships—supported by the Embassy of Brazil in Malaysia, the Innovation Diplomacy Program, and the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation—mark a significant step forward in international cooperation in integrated circuit (IC) design, technology transfer, and talent development.
Strategic Alliances for Semiconductor Excellence
The collaboration between Malaysia and Brazil aims to deepen ties in IC design and manufacturing by leveraging Malaysia’s advanced semiconductor ecosystem and Brazil’s design expertise. The initiative is poised to facilitate:
- Joint investments
- Technology and knowledge exchange
- Bilateral R&D and innovation programmes
These efforts are in line with Malaysia’s broader ambition to become a regional semiconductor hub and a center of excellence for chip innovation.
Showcasing Local Innovation: Alphaswift Industries
A highlight of the event was the live showcase by Alphaswift Industries, a Malaysian startup and winner of the 7th Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP) by Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec). Alphaswift successfully designed and prototyped a silicon chip using ChipInventor’s cloud-based EDA (Electronic Design Automation) platform, which is now ready for fabrication at Silterra, Malaysia’s premier semiconductor foundry.
The achievement, presented by Dr. Shian Lee, CEO of Alphaswift Industries, and Dr. Rafael Vidal Aroca, Innovation Manager at ChipInventor, reflects the growing strength of Malaysian startups in the global semiconductor value chain.

Empowering Talent Through Training and Global Exposure
To cultivate future-ready talent, the Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia (ASEM) is working with ChipInventor to deliver hands-on, industry-relevant training under initiatives such as:
- National Semiconductor Excellence Programme (NSEP)
- Global Semiconductor Exchange Programme (GSEP)
These programmes are designed to equip Malaysian students and professionals with practical skills in chip design, testing, and verification, directly supporting the nation’s high-tech development goals.
Cloud Infrastructure Powered by AWS
The entire design workflow is powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), leveraging its robust Asia Pacific (Malaysia) Region infrastructure. This enables:
- Secure and scalable chip design operations
- Faster time-to-market for semiconductor innovation
- Advanced digital transformation across industries
By hosting ChipInventor’s tools on AWS, Malaysia enhances its standing as a cloud-first digital economy with high-performance capabilities in chip design and innovation.

Paving the Way for Global Leadership
“These cross-border partnerships are a testament to Malaysia’s bold vision for the semiconductor sector,” said a spokesperson from Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park. “With world-class partners like Brazil, ChipInventor, AWS, and the continued support of the Malaysian government, we are building a globally competitive ecosystem that’s anchored in innovation, talent, and technology.”
