KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – 16 April 2025 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has announced the launch of its first direct flight route from Singapore to Anchorage, enhancing logistics and trade connectivity between Southeast Asia and the United States. This new route positions FedEx as the only logistics provider offering a non-stop, direct connection from Singapore to the continental U.S., reinforcing its commitment to the growth of key economies such as Malaysia.
This new service, operated six times weekly using a dedicated Boeing 777 freighter, significantly boosts transit efficiency for Malaysian shipments. Goods consolidated from Penang and Kuala Lumpur will be transported to Singapore’s Changi Airport, where they will board the direct flight to Anchorage. A return service from Anchorage to Singapore operates weekly, with FedEx planning to expand this to five return flights per week by summer 2025 to meet growing demand.
The new route improves shipping timelines, enabling shipments from Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand picked up on Saturday to arrive in the U.S. a day earlier on Monday—a game-changing advantage for time-sensitive industries.
“With this new service, FedEx reaffirms its dedication to supporting Malaysian businesses in their pursuit of global success,” said Woon Tien Long, Managing Director of FedEx Malaysia. “By providing a more reliable and faster link to the U.S., we are empowering businesses in hubs like Kuala Lumpur and Penang to navigate international trade with confidence and agility.”
Enabling Malaysia’s High-Growth Sectors
The direct route supports high-impact industries such as semiconductors, medical devices, electrical and electronics, aerospace, and healthcare—sectors that rely on secure, time-critical shipments. As a key manufacturing and export hub, Malaysia is set to gain from the improved connectivity to one of its largest trading partners, the United States.
Strengthening Trade in a Critical Corridor
With e-commerce, advanced electronics, and high-value manufacturing goods fueling demand, trade between Southeast Asia and the U.S. continues to accelerate. FedEx’s new direct connection reflects its long-term investment in facilitating smoother and more resilient global supply chains, especially for fast-growing economies in the region.
