PETALING JAYA, 6 March 2025 – Evolvelectric Motors Sdn Bhd has officially launched the JAC T9 pickup truck lineup in Malaysia, featuring both a diesel-powered Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) model and an advanced Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) option. The T9 combines modern design, luxury, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional performance, setting a new standard for the pickup truck market in Malaysia.
The T9 2.0L diesel variant has made history as the only pickup truck in Malaysia to achieve a 5-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) under the latest scoring system. The T9 BEV, meanwhile, is the first 4X4 electric pickup truck available in Malaysia.
Mr. Lau Yit Mun, CEO of Evolvelectric Motors, emphasized that the T9 is designed to cater to all Malaysian drivers, whether for business, family use, or daily commuting. He said, “The JAC T9 is versatile and accessible, meeting the needs of Malaysian drivers. Whether for daily use, family trips, or business, the T9 seamlessly adapts. With its striking design, it provides a stylish, reliable, and safe driving experience. This vehicle represents the most advanced 4×4 pickup JAC Motors has developed in its 55 years of producing light commercial vehicles.”
The T9 is built on JAC’s third-generation international platform, enhancing its stability, comfort, and safety. JAC’s success as China’s leading exporter of pickup trucks in 2024 further highlights the brand’s quality and performance.
The T9 comes with several luxurious features, including 64-colour ambient lighting with music rhythm effects, a 10.4-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360° HD camera, and a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System. It also boasts a range of charging options, including 50W wireless charging, USB Type-C, and a 220V multi-power socket, making it a breeze to drive.
For its performance, the T9 Diesel variant is equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that delivers 125kW of power and 410Nm of torque. It features a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, driving the rear wheels.
The T9 BEV variant is powered by an 88kWh LFP battery sourced from Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), offering an estimated 340 km WLTP range on a full charge. It delivers 220kW of power and 516Nm of torque, with a top speed of 140 km/h. DC fast charging at 88kW can charge the battery from 15% to 80% in just 45 minutes, while AC charging takes approximately 8.5 hours to fully charge.
To celebrate the T9 launch, Evolvelectric Motors is offering an introductory price until the end of the year:
- T9 Diesel variant: RM119,888 (Peninsula Malaysia), on-the-road without insurance, with an 8-year or unlimited mileage engine warranty for the first owner.
- T9 BEV variant: RM199,888 (Peninsula Malaysia), on-the-road without insurance, with a 6-year or 200,000 km battery warranty.
