Grab Malaysia is proud to collaborate with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as part of MDEC’s Business Digitalisation Initiative, aimed at empowering the digitalisation of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Malaysia.
We recognise the government’s holistic approach in fostering inclusive economic growth through the drive for digitalisation, which is pivotal in empowering MSMEs. As a local platform, Grab is committed to leveraging technology to fuel economic empowerment and inclusive growth for businesses not only in Malaysia but across the region. In 2023 alone, over 500,000 newly registered MSMEs across Southeast Asia gained access to customers through the Grab platform. In Malaysia, according to a recent study by EconWorks, partners on the platform contributed RM4.2 billion to the nation’s GDP in 2023. To further empower businesses, the GrabMerchant app provides valuable insights to partners about their customers and performance, enabling them to explore new ways to attract customers and make data-driven decisions to scale their businesses.
Adelene Foo, Managing Director of Grab Malaysia, shared, “Digitalisation has long been a key driver of business growth. At Grab, we are committed to empowering MSMEs with the right tools, insights, and financial solutions to grow sustainably. Through this collaboration with MDEC, we hope to further strengthen these efforts and reach more MSMEs across Malaysia, helping them thrive and advance in the digital economy. This MoU marks another step forward in Grab’s continuous efforts to support local businesses, and we look forward to working closely with MDEC and like-minded partners to contribute to the development of the country and ensure more Malaysians can benefit from the digital economy.”
