MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has officially launched DEX CONNEX Philippines 2025, the latest edition of its flagship market access programme designed to strengthen digital trade and innovation partnerships within ASEAN. This marks the beginning of a two-day initiative focused on forging cross-border collaborations and accelerating digital economic growth between Malaysia and the Philippines.
Bringing together 49 Malaysian tech companies and 43 Filipino partners, the programme provides a strategic platform for business matching, bilateral knowledge exchange, and access to high-potential markets. DEX CONNEX is part of MDEC’s broader Digital Exports (DEX) Programme, which champions the global expansion of Malaysian digital companies through targeted, high-impact initiatives.
Strategic MoUs to Drive Regional Innovation
A major highlight of the launch was the exchange of 14 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between participating organisations, signalling strong private and public sector commitment to collaboration.
Among them was a milestone MoU between MDEC and the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) Data Centre Incorporated (DCI). The agreement, exchanged by Anuar Fariz Fadzil, CEO of MDEC, and Michielson L. Luakian, President & CEO of DCI, outlines a shared commitment to enhance digital infrastructure, innovation, and economic resilience across both nations.
Strengthening Malaysia-Philippines Digital Ties
In his remarks, Anuar Fariz Fadzil emphasised the significance of the initiative:
“Today’s launch marks a new chapter in the growing digital partnership between Malaysia and the Philippines. Through DEX CONNEX, we are catalysing cross-border innovation and unlocking new economic opportunities—advancing Malaysia’s position as a regional digital powerhouse.”
He added:
“Our shared vision is to nurture inclusive and sustainable digital growth. By deepening relationships within ASEAN and leveraging the strength of our tech ecosystems, we are confident in delivering long-term, meaningful impact for the region.”
