The premium tiremaker introduces the latest update to their passenger car Primacy Series – the Primacy 5 with new outstanding benefits of Premium Comfort Drive, Longevity, Safety, and EV Compatibility.
Suitable for both conventional and electric vehicles: Responding to the booming EV market, the tire is optimized to meet the specific requirements of electric vehicles.
More Performance, Less Environmental Impact: The tire’s environmental footprint is decreased by 6% in line with the Michelin Group’s “All Sustainable” strategy

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 March 2025 – Michelin, the world’s leading tire company and manufacturer of life-changing composites and experiences, has recently launched MICHELIN Primacy 5 for passenger cars and crossovers of all engine types, highlighting “Confidence Made to Last” as its tagline. As a significant upgrade to its predecessor, MICHELIN Primacy 4, this new tire comes with key innovations for greater performance and lower environmental impact.

Prichapakorn Dangrojana, Managing Director of Michelin Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei said: “The new MICHELIN Primacy 5 was developed to meet the evolving demands of modern vehicles, while reducing its environmental impact. Modern vehicles, particularly hybrids and electric vehicles, place increased demands on tires, due to their increased horsepower and higher weight. The tire’s construction has therefore been optimized to handle these demands – with improvements in wear life and rolling resistance contributing to lower running costs, while the sustained wet grip performance ensures safety throughout the tire’s extended life

At Michelin, we are committed to developing and introducing products that truly benefit our customers. With Malaysians’ increasing affinity for larger SUVs as well as the rising popularity of electric vehicles, the MICHELIN Primacy 5 is designed to provide customers with the best value for their everyday journeys, delivering enhanced safety and a quieter driving experience”, added Dangrojana

The new MICHELIN Primacy 5 boasts new outstanding benefits including:
Premium Comfort Drive, thanks to a new tread pattern design featuring the MICHELIN Silent Rib Gen-3 technology that significantly reduces vibrations and noise for a smoother, quieter, comfortable and more relaxed driving experience while on the road

Excellent Longevity, with 24% more mileage compared to other premium brands due to a 10% increase in void ratio compared to its predecessor, alongside optimized lateral groove edges, which contributes to the longer lasting wet performance. This is combined with MaxTouch technology, which maximizes contact with the road and evenly distributes the forces of acceleration, braking, and cornering. Together, these factors deliver longer tread life without compromising safety – allowing customers to enjoy their adventures over an extended period, while getting the most value out of their tires.

Safety on Wet Roads for Longer, with 8% (when new) and 13% (when worn) shorter braking distance than other premium brands thanks to Functional Elastomers 3.0 featuring MICHELIN EverGrip and MICHELIN EverTread Technologies that optimize water evacuation, providing excellent wet braking performance — ensuring a secure journey for the drivers and their loved ones.

EV Compatibility, with a high-performance tread rubber compound that reduces the tire’s rolling resistance by 13% to improve energy consumption — thus, helping to extend the electric vehicle’s battery range.

While making advances on performance, safety and comfort, the MICHELIN Primacy 5 is also more respectful to the environment – in line with the Michelin Group’s ambitious “All Sustainable” strategy. Its rolling resistance is improved by 5%, and its longevity is by 18%, which mean that the tire can be used until the legal tread depth — thus, generating less waste. By design, its environmental footprint has been decreased by 6%

In Malaysia, the MICHELIN Primacy 5 is now available in 25 dimensions from 16 to 19 inches at all Michelin’s authorized tire dealers across the nation. All 18-inch and above tires feature the next-level aesthetic sidewalls with full-ring velvet line

The recommended retail pricing for the MICHELIN Primacy 5 will start from RM477 to RM1,026.
