Kuala Lumpur, 13 January 2025 – The Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel
Association (MyBHA) proudly announces its full support for the Visit Malaysia Year
(VMY) 2026 campaign, a landmark national initiative to showcase Malaysia’s cultural
richness, natural wonders, and renowned hospitality to the world. As a key player in
the tourism industry, MyBHA emphasizes the critical importance of collaboration
among all stakeholders to ensure the campaign’s success
The VMY2026 campaign must spotlight Malaysia’s diverse cultural heritage and
iconic attractions across all states, showcasing a wide range of tourism offerings—
from luxury five-star establishments to budget-friendly hotels and resorts. This
comprehensive approach aims to position Malaysia as a premier destination for
tourists of all preferences and budgets.
On our commitment to the campaign, MyBHA strongly urges all government agencies
and ministries to play an active role in assisting industry players and working closely
with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture of Malaysia (MoTAC) including its
promotional agency, Tourism Malaysia. It is essential that not only the industry
players are united, but that ministries, government agencies, and local councils also
align their efforts to ensure the resounding success of VMY2026.
MyBHA strongly advocates that the benefits of the VMY2026 campaign should
be reserved exclusively for registered and licensed industry players. This
ensures equitable opportunities for all and fosters adherence to regulations,
safeguarding the integrity of Malaysia’s tourism sector
MyBHA also underscores the importance of highlighting each state’s key tourism
products as part of the campaign. By showcasing the unique attractions and
offerings of every region, the campaign can deliver a truly comprehensive and
inclusive representation of Malaysia’s tourism potential
Additionally, MyBHA supports the decision of the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and
Culture of Malaysia, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, to direct the revision of the
promotional video for VMY2026. This decision reflects the government’s commitment
towards presenting a refined and authentic image of Malaysia to the global audience.
“MyBHA fully supports this initiative as it underscores the importance of
effective and authentic tourism marketing to drive economic growth and
enhance cultural diplomacy. The Minister’s willingness to engage directly with
industry players and address their concerns demonstrates decisive and
visionary leadership, but it is critical to see results.
MyBHA further hopes the revised video will thoughtfully depict Malaysia’s
multicultural society, highlighting the harmony and unity of its diverse communities.
The association also advocates for the inclusion of budget-friendly accommodations
to ensure that Malaysia is portrayed as an accessible destination for travelers of all
demographics
To bolster and enhance the impact of this campaign, MyBHA urges all members
to incorporate VMY2026 branding elements—such as the use of the logo,
official song, and themed promotions—into their respective marketing
strategies. Additionally, MyBHA recommends training all employees to adopt
the “Mesra Malaysia” module while fostering the “Sayangi Malaysia” campaign
spirit when welcoming tourists. This collective effort is expected to broaden
the campaign’s reach and strengthen its influence in both local and
international markets
As representatives of Malaysia’s budget and business hotels, we are committed to
support initiatives that strengthen the hospitality sector. VMY2026 presents a
unique opportunity for our members to showcase the value and appeal of budget and
business accommodations, which are vital components of Malaysia’s tourism
ecosystem
