Highlights from Past propFEST Charity Bazaars

Malaysia’s first-ever 16-hour charity bazaar, dedicated to uplifting 390 orphans, the propFEST Charity Bazaar, is set to make a grand return!

Organized for the third consecutive year by Persatuan Amal Semangat Semut (PASS) and propBUDDIES Sdn Bhd, the bazaar has garnered widespread acclaim. The event will take place on January 4 and 5, 2025, from 10 AM to 7 PM, at Aurora Place Bukit Jalil. This year, the fundraising target has been raised to RM300,000, up from RM200,000 in 2024, to continue empowering underprivileged communities towards self-reliance.

The event enjoys robust support from numerous organizations, including the Royal Malaysia Police Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID), the Public Service Chinese Community, Pertubuhan Amal THZ, the Lions Club of KL Bukit Bintang, the Lions Club of KL Re-Mind, the JCI Kuala Lumpur West and the JCI Entrepreneur.  Together, these groups aim to assist over 30 beneficiary organizations and help 390 orphans transform from a social problem to a social pillar.

“Entering its third year, the propFEST Charity Bazaar has grown from its humble beginnings with a RM100,000 target. In 2025, we are setting an ambitious RM300,000 goal,” said PASS Founder and President Stable Lai. “While we’re close to achieving our target, we still need the support of more kind-hearted individuals to keep the spirit of giving alive.” Lai added, “This year, the event will feature a record-breaking 50 booths, including 8 run by beneficiary groups themselves, reflecting our philosophy of empowering communities to transition from receiving aid to offering it — moving from palm up to palm down.”

The bazaar will showcase a wide variety of goods and services, including festive treats, gift hampers, bird’s nest products, cotton candy, toys, stationery, children’s clothing, wellness consultations, and fortune-telling sessions. Visitors can not only complete their festive shopping but also enjoy captivating performances, such as violin showcases by renowned Malaysian violinist Jessia Loo, lion dances, face-changing acts, martial arts displays, and ukulele performances.

Additionally, the organizers have partnered with the National Blood Centre to host a blood donation drive on both event days from 10 AM to 4 PM on the second floor of Aurora Place Bukit Jalil. Successful donors will receive a complimentary bag of rice, while stocks last.

Staying true to its “zero-cost” philosophy, the bazaar ensures that every ringgit raised is fully directed toward the beneficiaries, maximizing the impact of the funds. Following the event, the organizers and participating vendors will personally visit the 30 beneficiary organizations to hand over the donations and supplies.

As we welcome the Year of the Snake, let’s shop for festive goods, share love, and donate blood for a meaningful start to the year. Join us in making a difference!
