The Renowned Event Showcases Malaysia’s Digital Future Through Key Industry Collaborations, Trends and Highlights.
Kuala Lumpur, October 16, 2024 – The Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) 2024 was kickstarted this week at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) as part of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS). With the theme “Building a Smarter Malaysia: Unleashing AI & Semiconductor Convergence,” the event highlights advancements in semiconductor technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and the digitalisation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The first day focused on the potential of Malaysia’s integrated circuit (IC) design industry and the growing intersection of semiconductors and AI. Experts from Skyechip, Weeroc, and Chipsbank discussed how semiconductors are transforming sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, and mobility. Emphasis was placed on talent development to cultivate the next generation of engineers critical to Malaysia’s digital economy.
YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, the Menteri Besar of Selangor, officiated the event alongside YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, Deputy Minister of Digital, and YB Ng Sze Han, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade, and Mobility. A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sidec and Cyberview Sdn Bhd, paving the way for a two-year partnership to develop IC Design Park Phase 2 in Cyberjaya.
The opening also featured the launch of TEASK, a company focused on modular and movable power stations, with its first installation set in Cyberjaya as part of the Cyberview Living Lab® Pilot initiative. Additionally, NCT Group announced a strategic collaboration with Sidec to promote community building and industrial development at the NCT Smart Industrial Park, further enhancing Malaysia’s position in global semiconductor and technology markets.
AI Innovation and SME Digitalisation Take Centre Stage
SDEC 2024 will continue on Day 2 with sessions on Generative AI Innovation, covering global talent development, AI’s role in robotics, and its impact on various industries. Day 3 will feature the TikTok SME Digitalisation Conference, offering strategies to help SMEs leverage e-commerce and digital tools for growth.
Over 18,000 visitors and 200 exhibitors from around the world are expected to attend the convention, making it a vital platform for networking, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing among businesses, investors, and tech enthusiasts.
