RM158 Million in GMV Achieved — Marking a Decade of Empowering Malaysia’s Digital Entrepreneurs

PETALING JAYA, 25 April 2025 — The Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) proudly celebrated a major milestone today with the conclusion of the 10th Malaysia Top E-Commerce Merchant (Top ECM) Awards 2025, spotlighting a decade of driving digital growth and success for Malaysian entrepreneurs.
This year, the awards attracted a record-breaking 1,060 applications from merchants across key sectors including Fashion & Accessories, Beauty, F&B, and Home Living. A total of 511 participants were shortlisted and underwent intensive training sessions covering data analytics, livestream optimisation, and AI-powered tools to boost business operations and customer engagement.
Participants also gained valuable industry insights through exclusive site visits to Dattel Asia and Business Synergy, enhancing their digital commerce capabilities. Collectively, participating merchants generated an impressive RM158 million in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) during the campaign period, contributing to a cumulative GMV of RM500 million over the past decade.

A highlight of the event was the “Livestream Battle,” held in collaboration with TikTok Shop, where merchants showcased their skills in real-time selling, attracting audiences during a 132-hour livestream marathon.
“These merchants have redefined what it means to succeed in the digital space,” said Mr Yong Kai Ping, CEO of Sidec. “Through innovation, storytelling, and strategic execution, they are shaping the future of Malaysia’s digital economy.”
The ceremony was graced by YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar Selangor; YB Ng Sze Han, Selangor State EXCO for Investment, Trade and Mobility; and Tuan Haji Ts. Saipolyazan M. Yusop, CEO of Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated).
